Project Manager - R&D Medical Devices, Aarhus
At the Vitrolife Group, we work every day to unlock the full potential of science and technology to reduce the barriers towards building a family. Together we help our customers and their patients to fulfill the dream of having a baby.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our R&D team in Denmark, based at our Aarhus office.
The role involves leading projects across our medical device portfolio and services, spanning both software and hardware. It offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of technologies and disciplines in a highly cross-functional environment.
Your impact
As a Project Manager in R&D Medical Devices, you will provide end-to-end project leadership from concept through detailed development, verification and validation, design transfer, and ultimately to launch readiness.
Working closely with project teams, typically consisting of 5 - 15 people and with stakeholders across Software and Hardware Engineering, Product Management, QA/RA, Market Access, Manufacturing, and other relevant functions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Taking ownership of projects as they progress from concept to launch
Defining and managing project plans, milestones, deliverables, priorities, risks, and dependencies
Ensuring alignment between user needs, product requirements, technical solutions, and regulatory requirements
Leading and motivating cross-functional teams across R&D and other relevant functions
Driving project activities throughout development, verification, validation, and design transfer to ensure the product is ready for launch.
What you bring
Several years of experience in project management and project leadership, ideally involving complex, cross-functional product development within a regulated industry, will provide a strong foundation for success in this role.
A strong technical understanding is essential, along with experience in:
Product development involving both hardware and software
Product development where UX/UI is a significant part of the product
Experience in the following areas would be an advantage:
Quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and compliance
Risk and change management
You do not need to be a technical specialist. What matters is your ability to understand complex technical topics, ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when needed, and bring different disciplines together to deliver a successful product.
A background in mechanical or electronic engineering, or a comparable technical discipline, is expected.
You are fluent in both spoken and written Danish and English.
Who you are
A structured, pragmatic, and hands-on approach defines your style of project leadership. You know how to create momentum, maintain progress in complex projects, and bring teams together around common goals.
Taking ownership, making decisions, and managing competing priorities come naturally to you. Clear communication and strong relationship-building skills enable you to work effectively with both technical specialists and business stakeholders, bringing clarity to complex situations and ensuring that decisions and actions move forward.
Just as importantly, you are a positive and inspiring colleague with excellent collaboration skills. You contribute to a supportive working environment and build strong relationships across the organisation. With your collaborative approach, you will fit naturally into our team of dedicated and committed colleagues, who look forward to welcoming you.
