What you´ll do
We are seeking a Diagnostics Specialist to join our Genomic Precision Diagnostics (GPDx) team at Igenomix Spain. The selected candidate will play a key role in analysing human DNA and interpreting genetic data to achieve accurate diagnoses and prepare reports for patients with Rare Diseases, applying a variety of techniques.
Among your key responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret genetic data of GPDx test, using NGS, MLPA, PCR (target mutations and trinucleotide repeat expansion), Sanger.
- Elaborate clinical genetic reports.
- Provide guidance and client assistance with the tests offered, test ordering, and pre and post analytical steps.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of results using quality control procedures.
- Participate in internal and external quality controls for GPDx.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and privacy for all patient information.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree, master's or doctoral in Biomedical sciences, Biology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and use of diagnostic equipment.
- At least 1 year of experience in clinical genetic diagnosis of rare diseases, using at least NGS technique. Experience with other methods such as PCR, Sanger, or MLPA will be valued. Experience in analysis and interpretation of variant classification (SNV and CNV) according to ACMG recommendations, and elaboration of genetic reports.
- Individuals must be a member of a State Biologists Professional Body (or similar Professional Body) to sign reports or have the possibility of becoming members.
- Knowledge of pre and post-test genetic counselling will be valued.
- Excellent Spanish, both oral and written. Good level of English, both oral and written.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients in providing and retrieving information needed for testing.
- Handle all patient information with the utmost confidentiality and respect for privacy, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
